Treatment Information

PRP Face Rejuvenation is a cutting-edge procedure in cosmetic dermatology, offering a non-surgical solution to enhance skin appearance. It's tailored to address individual concerns such as aging, scars, and volume loss, making it a versatile and effective cosmetic treatment.

You have cells called platelets in your blood. These special cells bring nutrients and growth factors to all parts of your body to promote new cell growth. Platelet-rich plasma therapy harvests platelets from your body and uses them to encourage healing and the development of new cells in areas where you need it.
To perform a PRP treatment, your nurse will first draw a small amount of your blood. Then spins it in a special machine called a centrifuge, which separates your platelets from the rest of your blood. Your nurse then uses the platelets to create a concentrated solution that has many more platelets than your blood normally has.
Your nurse then will inject the PRP solution into the targeted treatment areas of your face. There, the PRP solution gets to work stimulating your body’s natural healing processes and encouraging the production of collagen and elastin, proteins that are key in rejuvenating the appearance of your skin.
Because your body’s collagen and elastin production works using the domino effect, the more your body produces, the more it continues to produce. This means your PRP therapy results continue to evolve for up to 18 months.
Results aren’t immediate, however. Because PRP therapy uses your body’s natural healing processes, it can take 3-4 weeks for noticeable results to appear.

Pre & Post Care

Pre-Care:
• If you develop a fever, cold, flu, or inflammation in the treatment areas we must reschedule. Use of PRP treatment with a heightened immune system increases risks for complications.
• We recommend treating no sooner than 3-4 weeks before a special event or upcoming vacation to allow time for adequate healing and swelling to subside.
• If you have a history of cold sores, consider beginning prophylactic treatment with Valtrex or similar no later than the day of treatment.
• Discontinue use of anti-inflammatory drugs steroidal and non-steroidal (i.e. aspirin, ibuprofen, Medrol, predisone, advil) at least 3 days to 1 week before your treatment. With PRP, we want inflammation; this is one of the mechanisms of how PRP does its work.
• If you are or have been on steroids within 2 weeks of treatment, we cannot treat you. Consult your physician for approval to discontinue the use of steroids and receive treatment.
• Discontinue use of any other blood-thinning agents such as Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s and DHA’s) etc. at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising and bleeding.
• We recommend avoiding alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, spicy foods, and cigarettes 3 days before and after your treatment. (All of these may increase risk of bruising)
